The ability to have free choice of one's own acts or states without external force or coercion. [[Self-Determination]] is the process by which a person may have freedom to control their own life, body, mind and spirit. 

The right of peoples to self-determination is a cardinal principle in modern international law, binding, as such, on the United Nations as authoritative interpretation of the Charter’s norms.
